Once or twice a year, I clean my home intentionally to reset both my space and my energy. Even if I clean regularly, certain areas naturally accumulate dust, dirt, or clutter. That’s why I created this 7-day mindful home reset—to make sure every space gets the love it deserves. Cleaning with intention turns the process into something calmer, more grounded, and even satisfying.

Why I Do a 7-Day Mindful Home Reset Once or Twice a Year
Deep cleaning doesn’t have to feel rushed or exhausting. By spreading the work across several days, each space gets proper attention without burnout. This reset helps me clear physical clutter while also creating mental clarity. It’s not about perfection—it’s about creating a home that feels supportive, calm, and aligned with how I want to live.
How the 7-Day Home Reset Works (Made to Fit Real Life)
I know not everyone has seven days in a row to clean—and honestly, life is meant to be lived too. If your schedule is full, you can stretch this reset out by doing the 7 days across a season, which usually means tackling about two spaces a month.
Adjust this routine in a way that feels realistic and supportive for you. Put on a cozy playlist, light a candle if that’s your thing, and take it one space at a time. If you have someone who can help, even better. Sharing the load makes the process lighter and more enjoyable.
The goal isn’t perfection. It’s creating a home that feels calm, cared for, and easy to live in.
Before You Start: Set Your Intention for Your Home Reset
Before you begin, take a moment to make a short list of the things you’d like to change or fix. Ask yourself:
What do I want to achieve with this reset, and what has been bothering me the most in my home?
For example:
- Finally dumping that mountain of mismatched or broken socks
- Decluttering your wardrobe
- Cleaning or polishing your shoes
- Opening that drawer where everything ends up
- Getting rid of burned oven trays
- Vacuuming or deep cleaning the couch—especially if your pets love sleeping there
The idea behind this list is to prioritize the things that cause the most discomfort in your space. Write them down and keep them at the top of your list as you move through each room. Try to tackle these first—ideally by the end of the day you’re cleaning that space.
This small step makes the reset feel more personal, intentional, and meaningful.

Day 1: Bathroom & Shower Deep Clean
I like to start fresh by giving my bathrooms a proper scrub. This instantly makes the whole house feel cleaner.
⏱ Time: ~2.5–3 hours
Tasks:
- Scrub toilets
- Clean tiles and visible grout
- Clean sinks and counters
- Clean mirrors and glass
- Scrub showers and bathtubs
- Declutter and clean drawers and storage
- Wash towels
- Empty garbage and wipe bins
- Replace toothbrushes and discard old makeup or skincare
Tip: No mop? An old towel wrapped around your broom works just fine—and it’s often easier to clean. For dirty bathtubs, I use dish soap first, then finish with vinegar + water or disinfectant.

Day 2: Bedroom Reset & Declutter
A clean bedroom feels incredibly restful—especially when you crawl into fresh bedding.
⏱ Time: ~3 hours
Tasks:
- Change all bedding (sheets, duvet cover, blankets, mattress cover)
- Pick up clothes and clutter
- Lightly declutter wardrobes and nightstands
- Dust and clean furniture, lamps, and decor
- Vacuum and mop floors
- Wash curtains or vacuum blinds
Tip: Don’t spend too much time decluttering your wardrobe—save that for another day. Focus on dust, hidden corners, and under the bed, where pet hair and dirt love to hide.
Day 3: Living & Dining Room Deep Clean
These are the spaces where I spend most of my time. During a deep clean, I focus on areas I don’t usually clean, like baseboards, windows, and upholstery.
⏱ Time: ~3 hours
Tasks:
- Dust TV, electronics, and decor
- Clean tables and surfaces
- Vacuum couch and chairs
- Wash table linens, runners, and placemats
- Wash curtains or clean blinds
- Clean baseboards and window ledges
- Vacuum rugs and mop floors
- Declutter and organize
Day 4: Kitchen Deep Clean & Organization
This is the most time-consuming day—but also one of the most rewarding. Nothing feels better than a clean kitchen where everything is easy to access.
⏱ Time: ~3 hours
Tasks:
- Wash dishes
- Clean dishwasher filter and run a cleaning cycle
- Wipe counters and walls
- Organize pantry and dishes
- Clean fridge and freezer
- Clean appliances (microwave, toaster, air fryer, mixer)
- Deep clean stove and oven
- Toss expired food and donate unused items
- Clean cabinet doors and handles
- Vacuum and mop floors
- Empty garbage and wipe bins
Tip: For greasy stains, use a Swedish cloth with dish soap and warm water. Finish with vinegar + water to disinfect.
Day 5: Outdoor Spaces, Plants & Garage Reset
Outdoor spaces are easy to forget, but cleaning them can completely change how your home feels.
⏱ Time: ~2–4 hours
Tasks:
- Declutter balconies, porches, or garage
- Clean floors when possible
- Prune plants and add fertilizer
- Clean railings, BBQ, and outdoor furniture
- Remove leaves, dirt, and visible stains

Day 6: Entrance, Office & Functional Spaces
This day is all about functionality and mental clarity. Electronics tend to collect more dust than we realize, so take extra care here.
Tasks:
- Declutter and organize entrance
- Clean shoes
- Vacuum and mop floors
- Clean mirrors
- Dust decor and electronics
- Sort and discard papers and receipts
- File important documents
- Declutter drawers (pens, cables, notebooks)
- Clean desks and furniture
- Vacuum chairs, stairs, and banisters
Tip: Use electronic wipes for screens and devices.
Day 7: Laundry, Windows & Home Reset Wrap-Up
This day feels lighter—it’s the final step.
Tasks:
- Clean windows (inside and outside if possible)
- Finish all laundry (soak heavily stained items if needed)
- Wash remaining blankets, pillow covers, and cushions
- Donate items you no longer use (I use local free groups)
- Take out garbage
Extra tip: Open your windows and let fresh air in. Even in winter, a few minutes can completely refresh your home.
✨ You’re officially done.
Your home should feel lighter, calmer, and more aligned. Even though this is a very mundane process, I truly believe it helps clear mental clutter, renew energy, and create a happier environment.
Final Thoughts: Maintaining a Calm, Clean, and Supportive Home
This reset is designed for a two-story home of around 1,500 sq ft, but adjust it to fit your space. You don’t need to do this often—only when your home starts to feel heavy, or as a seasonal ritual like spring cleaning or a New Year reset.
The rest of the year is simply maintenance—keeping spaces livable, clean, and pleasant as you go.
